The Pawn

This is my submission for the December 2023 OPR writing jam. The theme was "unlikely allies". I wanted to use factions that were modeled and somewhat visually fleshed out and set them in a non-combat scene.

I also wanted to explore the idea of being a prisoner in the Grimdark Future setting, and how awful it could be without getting explicit.

Twist inspired by everyone's favorite Empire, and the Barracks Emperors who kept U-turning for Rome.
